halfords.....

Post  THEDUBFATHER on Sun Jan 30, 2011 5:46 pm

now i know there shite, and i have sworn not to use them again after being funked around with bikes, car parts and just useless staff that havent a clue....

but , after picking up the parts needed to sort the beetle door problem yesterday , i called in at the boston branch and they still have stuff in the january sale, which ends 31st , any how ive got numerous mates that have brought halford socket sets and raved on about them and the warranty etc, so i found a nice set in there of there advanced / professional range , should be £189 and was reduced to £89 , so i decided to have it as a few of my rachets and sockets had seen better days , have used the kit on jobs yesterday and today on the bug and its a good quality bit of kit!!

a few other sets on offer too and they finish tomorrow or tues! so go have a look ... (and ignore the numpties that work there... lol)

Very Happy

It is the most fantastic peice of kit on this plannet! The only addition it needs it adapters so you can run small sockets on larger rachets. This is handy for bolts and such like and also means that you arent swapping ends every two seconds

I've had a halford set for about 2 years now and the only problem I've had is my 3/8 ratchet has died, but I have another anyway. Lucky for me I have reducer sockets Smile They've been well used and seem to be of decent quality!

Adi you do realise that you can just walk into halfords (assuming you have the pro kit) and they will just hand you a new one, no questions asked. I blew mine up after slotting a 2m scaffold bar over it tring to remove a tow bar

Just googled it and the older stuff didnt have pro, just halfords stamped on it. TBH if you took it in they would probs replace it and if not just say It was bought in a pro set x number of years ago and start kicking up a fuss Very Happy

I might do that, they don't like angry customers in there, makes them look bad!

If you have the older style ratchets from there, remove the 2 torx bit screws on the faceplate, pull out the mech and give it a liberal rub internally with some thin grease like LP2.
Action is much better and lasts much longer Cool
