massive difference between a propper looker and a rusty bonnet

a lot of the cars on there have poor (looking) bodywork but have major mods under the skin, not just a rusty bonet

there's a lot of confusion over "rat look"

for some it means a ropey car (i call that shit look) for others it is a car where performance is paramount regardless of how the car ends up looking. some people call a rusted bonnet ratlook

a lot of haters think that ratting a car is easy. i guess it is but its not easy to do it well. theres a huge number of cars out there which have had serious restoration work and then spent thousands making sure than any new paint looks original and carries patina. this is a lot harder to do than giving a panel a "propper" paint job.

done prpoerly a rat could easily be returned to its former glory.

the other side of what i consider rat look are the total shitbox cars. dented panels, wings held on with zipties and gaffer tape etc. i can relate to this too.

i have a lot of love for rats. i'd much rather see a good honest dinted and rusty bonnet than cracking filler and a shit attempt at a respray
