I need help!

Post  liam-mk2driver on Fri Feb 18, 2011 1:13 pm

My mk2 golf is lowered 60mm at the front but at standard height at the back and my 60mm rear lowering springs have just arrived in the post. I really want to fit them but im a student so i can't afford to take it to the garage and i dont have a spring compressor so i cant do it at home.
If anyone who has a spring compressor could help me fit them i will be very gratefull!! I live in brigg btw but i'll drive to wherever you are if you can help. thanks

Yeah once you have wound the nut up you lose most of the tension on the spring so just push down the spring and undo the nut that last bit. Will be even easier putting the new springs on.

As stated rears are fine with out compressors, just do both sides at once and let the rear beam drop then there will be no tension. Slip the springs on both sides then using a jack in the middle gently lift making sure it goes through your top mounts properly on both sides and slip the cups and nuts on the top. Put wheels back on and drop her down then tighten the top nuts fully Very Happy

Cheers for help guys, in the end used jubilee clips to compress the springs to get them off and then my new springs went on and i just squeezed them together to get the top nut on and now my caris finally level!
